Regional Utd Girls u14 season to date report -Match Notes
The u14 girls soccer season 2010 is approaching its final games . Our girls have performed well this season and are results are as follows .
Weds 26/5 : Regional Utd 2 2 Moyross
This was a cracker of a game between two well matched sides. Moyross dominated the first half and went 2-0 up through Courtney Hayes and Nicola Griffin . Regional came storming back in the second half and equalised with goals from Ciara Lane and Sarah Carew . Both sides had many chances to win the game but it took a fabulous save from goalie Aoibheann Maher to keep us level with the Moyross girls . The game finished honours even .
Regional man of the match – Aoibheann Maher .
Weds 9/6 :Regional Utd 4 7 Aisling Annacotty
This was a fine performance by our girls against a well drilled Aisling XI . The first half was nip and tuck but ended with Regional leading 3-2 . The second half was an exciting affair and with the score finely balanced at 4-4 , Sarah Shortt from Aisling Annacotty broke our hearts with a superb individual goal . It took some great defensive work from Aine Ryan in goals and Heather Fitzgerald to keep us in the game but the stronger , more skilful Aisling girls emphasised their superiority by adding on a couple of goals . Scorers were - Regional Utd ; Ciara Lane , Sarah Murphy and Sarah Carew (2) and Aisling – Annacotty ; Sarah Shortt (4) Megan Foley (3).
Regional man of the match – goalkeeper Aine Ryan .
Monday 14/6 : Regional Utd 6-3 Corbally Utd .
Our girls got back on the winning trail with an excellent win over Corbally utd at the sun drenched Corbally grounds. Ciara Lane opened the scoring for us early in the first half and soon we were 2-0 through Sarah Murphy . Corbally pulled one back through Caoimhe Sheehan but Rebecca Robinson added another goal to keep our two goal advantage going into the half time break . Corbally pulled us back to 3-2 early in the second half through Aoife Riordan and as the game was finely balanced we made the breakthrough when Ciara Lane poached a goal from close range . More nervous moments followed for Regional when Tara Mannix of Corbally scored a wonderful individual goal to make it 4-3 to us . Our nerves were soothed when Eloise Hickey scored a superb lobbed goal to make it 5-3 to Regional . We finished the scoring when Ciara Lane completed her hat-trick to make it 6-3. This was a good win over a gallant Corbally utd XI .
Scorers – Regional Utd – Ciara Lane (3) , Sarah Murphy , Eloise Hickey and Rebecca Robinson . Corbally scorers – Caoimhe Sheehan , Aoife Riordan and Tara Mannix .
Regional man of the match – Rebecca Robinson .

Regional utd Girls bow out of u14 FAI cup
Early in the second half Askeaton scored when they beat our offside trap to score a well worked goal . This setback spurred our girls forward in search of an equaliser . We were desperately unlucky when Eloise Hickey got to the bye-line and pulled a great pass back to Alix Fitzgerald who’s shot hit the post. As we piled on the pressure through great work from Deirdre Cassidy and Sophie Lilburn , we threatened but could not make the breakthrough to equalise .
Askeaton were always dangerous on the break but our defence led by Aisling Horan and Aileen McDermott was immense with Sarah Carew ever dependable in goals . As we pushed forward in the last few minutes to try and score the goal we merited, Askeaton broke through and got the second goal to break Regional hearts and send them through to the next round .
Despite the result ,it was a fine performance by our girls . All our girls played their hearts out and can take great pride from their efforts . Other outstanding performances came from Rebecca Robinson, Niamh Deery, Heather Fitzgerald and Zoe Dunne .

Hi All
Lads looking for Support for Biggest game in Club history would be most grateful if you could help. Idea that I came up with would be good if each manager could get his or her team to come to the match in wearing their red Jerseys. It would show good colour and support at the match. As the saying goes we need the 12 man for the little bit extra on the day.
Many thanks
Regards
John

Even though the night was quite and we only had a slot from 5.00 to 9.00 (finished at 8.00 due to it been so quite) the club received €830 in donations.
Thanks to All involved.
David Cowpar called up to Ireland Schools under 18
David Cowpar called up to Ireland Schools under 18
Congrats to David Cowpar in getting called up to Ireland Schools under 18 in Dublin on the 20th and 21st of November 2009. May we wish him the best of luck and hope everything goes well for him. David goes to school in Crescent College Comprehensive. He plays mainly centre back but often is used in centre midfield. He has played all his club soccer with Regional Utd F.C. He is Captain of this year’s Inter-County Youth Panel for Limerick. For a player that is still playing Under 18 soccer this is his second year playing Junior soccer with Regional Utd FC Junior A team. David has a big future ahead of him if he keeps going the way is going.
Lee J Lynch at West Bromwich Albion
Regionals Lee J Lynch is making terrific progress at West Bromish Alibion, and not only is he playing with the Academy side but he has also started the last 3 reserve games and is due to start again tonight (Mon 26th Oct 09) for the reserves against Port Vale. He was also on stand-bye last year to the Irish U19 squad and is hopeful of getting a call up early next year to the main U19 squad.
Lee J is comfortable playing wide midfield in a 4-4-2 formation but right through the club West Brom play a 4-3-3 formation. He is the only old fashioned out-and-out winger in the side and so he is playing as a striker and has to adjust his game as the other two strikers don't score a lot of goals by getting on the end of crosses, instead they are the more modern type of striker feeding off through balls in the centre. He is very happy with the way things are going and is getting on well with his coaches and fellow players. He will be home again at the end of November as he is having a party to celebrate his 18th birthday.
